Strobist Kit

The strobist kit was so much fun to work with.
I ended up dragging my roommate and my friend down to the lighting studio with me and we had so much fun. It took a while but the concept I originally wanted came out in the first shot.
The second shot is my friend Kassandra. This also, I thought, turned out pretty good.

  1. I like both of these photos, but the second one stands out for me. There are a lot of really neat textures in there, from her vest to the wrinkles in the sheet to the shadows on her face, that give it a very 3-D feeling. The first picture is nice, but it feels a little flat. ~Jessica

  2. I think I like the second photo best too -- I love the play of shadows along her hands and face, and the way she's holding her arms feels interestingly contradictory, like she's opening herself up and shielding herself at the same time.

But the first shot is a strong photo, too. The way you're holding yourself and the partially-hidden expression on your face feel like they have a lot of possible stories behind them; it's a very narrative-seeming photo even though nothing much is really happening during the exact moment it's capturing.
