I really liked doing portraits with the Strobist kit. I could control every aspect of the lighting, and get shots done just as I planned. I got this particular shot with each flash pointed opposite the subject, each with an umbrella reflecting the light back.

This looks like it could be from a magazine because the background is so crisp and white. Nice use of the flash.

The effect you created by using only reflected light is really interesting -- it's not as harshly sharp as a direct flash, but it's still crisper than filtered light would be. It makes things softer without sacrificing much detail. I think it was a really clever way to use the kit.
